A Big Sweet Boy

This is our black, long haired German shepherd dog, Jax.  He is enjoying his Sunday morning nap.  He has brought so much love and happiness into our lives.

I strive to help those that are scared of him simply because of the way he looks.  I explain that simply because he is a GSD does not automatically guarantee an ill behaved dog.  He does indeed resemble a Wolf – but one has to remember -difficult and aggressive behavior can be attributed to the OWNER, not the DOG. I get so many compliments of how well behaved and sweet he is (yes, I said sweet).

Puppies raised, as Jax was, with boundaries, structure, consistency with training and commands, love and training grow up to be strong and confident dogs.  When we brought him home at 8 weeks of age – we played with his toes, ears, legs, nose, to acclimate him to touch.  I took chew bones away from him as a puppy as he patiently waited for me to return to him.  I put my hands in his food bowl as he ate as well – and he trusted that I would continue to allow him to eat.  I socialized him with humans and canines.  We visited friends, dogs parks, pet stores etc. as he grew more socialized daily.

I love hugging him around his big neck – which always come with a big and sloppy kiss….
